I come from the Myst/Uru universe of game play and I seriously want to contribute here.

So I am going to have to build a frame of refrence for example this FateCore means nothing to me so I recon I am going to need to get a handle on whats involved.

What do you need how many people can play at once, or is it a solo affair option.

If we are going to have an example game while we go through the design process. Is there an example we can download (preferably free) that we can suggest for all Noobs like me (there is a a valid argument for us all to use the same example. ;)

[edit]
is "Fate Accelerated Edition" a valid option

I went here
http://www.evilhat.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=222
Downloaded the zip file from the pay nothing here link unzipped the PDF and on page 5 it tells me
Quote:
Character sheets, one for each player. You can download these from
http://www.evilhat.com.

So where do I download? [ok no strikethrough option] but I found the download here

Unwritten is a tabletop RPG. It derives distantly from the lineage of Dungeons and Dragons, in that a GameMaster and several players who play characters sit around a table and do shared story together. It's much less of a 'game' in that there is no winning - just doing interesting things. FateCore is one of a modern wave of RPGs where the focus is less on number-crunching and more on narrative situations. The rules provide extra structure you can build off of and the dice inject some surprises here and there.

FateCore and FAE are great places to start. Unwritten looks very similar (in fact, it includes text from the OGL version of FateCore).

FAE is Fate Accelerated Edition - it is billed as a 'streamlined' version of FateCore. You can get them both for free, of course, but we encourage you kick a little money back to the good people at Evil Hat for providing such a terrific platform for gaming.

Also, there is a growing library of games with Fate versions out there. I've enjoyed all of the ones I've gotten my hands on. So if you want to explore, then dig in!

I will be giving a donation to the Evil Hat guys as that FAE does look like a good frame of reference for those of us approaching from a Myst/Uru perspective.

Using FAE as common ground also gives a low cost approach.

Just as I would suggest that apporaoch for Uru users, I would suggest that any one coming from a RPG background with no experience of the online environment takes a look at MOULa http://mystonline.com/en/ again this is free to set up.

There's a regular meet every Sunday 8pm UK time in "The Meeting Place" Neighbourhood. The environment is a lot easier to explain once you are there.

The following link will help you set up your Uru basics in the same way that FAE will help Uru users figure out RPG
